AI just made average content free and infinite. That’s exactly why your actual point of view is now worth more, not less.
For about a year now, I’ve watched a strange thing happen to my feed. Its gotten more polished. And somehow much harder to read all the way through.
That’s AI, and I’m not against it, I use it several times a week. But we should be honest about what it actually changed. AI didn’t raise the ceiling on great communication. It made it worse or more sameness. It made competent, generic, perfectly-fine content essentially free and infinite.
When something becomes free and infinite, it stops being valuable. We’re now drowning in content that’s grammatically flawless, structurally sound, and says absolutely nothing new.
It used to be that if something was well-written, it suggested effort, and worthy of your attention. Now a machine can produce flawless polish content in four seconds.
So, what’s left? Judgment. Taste. A genuine point of view that came from someone who actually lived through experience and human interaction. The specific story only you have. The opinion you’d be a little nervous to say out loud. The conclusion you reached the hard way, by being wrong.
None of that is something AI can generate, because it’s perspective, and perspective only comes from a person who was there.
This is good news for leaders, and most of them haven’t realized it yet. The bar for sounding competent is easier to reach, but the bar for sounding human just became the one thing that matters. In a feed full of confident, hollow, machine-smooth posts, the thing that stops the scroll is the unmistakable sense that a real person with real experience and real opinions is talking to you.
Don’t compete with the machines on volume or polish. You’ll lose. Compete on the one thing they can’t fake: that you were actually there.
